Astros drop third game on the trot, Phillies lead series 3-2

And still the home nine haven’t won a game in this seasons’ world series.

Travelling into Texas the Astros had two wins in the back pocket with the Phillies needing to win two games to keep the series alive in Houston, the Phillies leave Texas one game away from claiming the SSG Baseball title.

The Astros led going into the top of the 9th with RBI’s from Hosmer and Bird and seven strong innings from starter Carrasco but in previous games it was the Phillies’ bullpen that collapsed the Astros’ bullpen broke this time as with Aaron Bennett trying to close the game out the lead was halved on a wild pitch and a RBI from Rivera levelled the game.

Tension mounted with no more score in the 9th and until the top of the 12th.

A single, a balk and an intentional walk brought mid-season acquisition Jim Cobb to the plate, who launched a 452-foot home run into the Astros crowd, Lindor then drove in Herrera for a 6-2 Philadelphia lead.

Houston rallied briefly in the bottom of the 12th but Yimi Garcia remained composed and saw the game out for the Phillies leaving the majority of the 40,820 disappointed.
