Kolek Fans 8 in MLB Debut
Miami Marlins got a good look today at the first of many talented pitchers coming through the Marlins farm system as SP Tyler Kolek made his MLB debut versus the New York Mets today. Kolek struck out the side in the first inning easily hitting 100+ MPH as the Mets batters got their first look at the #37 ranked prospect in the MLB. Kolek battled some 2nd inning nerves as he walked a couple but was able to get out of the inning unscathed. Kolek would strike out 8 in his 6 innings of work allowing only 2 hits including a home run to 1B Danny Schaefer in the 5th inning. The Marlins offense was unable to score any runs for Kolek to get him a decision but they finally got to the Mets bullpen when LF Yoenis Cespedes hit a 2 out Grand Slam for his first home run as a Marlin. Kolek will look to for his first win this Sunday against their division rival Atlanta Braves.
