In a low-scoring contest between the Colorado Rockies and the Atlanta Firebirds, Rory Turner, who is tied for 9th in the NL in wins with 3, proved to be the difference. The Colorado right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Rockies win. The Firebirds, now 9-22, continue their inauspicious start.

Colorado left fielder Sergio Martínez helped the Rockies go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Martínez hit a run-scoring single off Atlanta pitcher Rocky Edwards.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Atlanta skipper Barry Larkin.
