Ortega Leads Chicago Past San Diego
In a low-scoring contest between the Chicago Cubs and the San Diego Padres, Mariano Ortega was the X factor. The Chicago right-hander spearheaded the 3-0 win. Orlando Romero closed it out for his 7th save. The win gives Chicago a record of 13-18.

Ortega, a native of Carolina, Puerto Rico, was dealing all game. He kept San Diego hitters off-balance, while giving the Cubs 7.1 quality innings. Ortega threw 123 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 7.

"Mariano did a good job of managing their lineup," said Chicago manager Warren Schaeffer.
