Brewers Get Clutch Win, 2-1
The Milwaukee Brewers took Chicago pitcher Nick Travieso's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Miller Park. The final score had Milwaukee getting past the Cubs, 2-1. Travieso went 8 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 6. Milwaukee reliever Ed Gaines was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Orlando Romero. The Cubs, at 16-18, have lost 4 in a row.

The Brewers were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 27-year old second baseman Dave Thomas landed a big blow. He turned a 2-2 fastball from Orlando Romero into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Miller Park denizens into a frenzy and sent the Brewers home with a thrilling 2-1 win.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Chicago skipper Warren Schaeffer, "and it cost us."
