Boston Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Boston Red Sox, with some walk-off drama, delighted their fans at Fenway Park.
The Boston Red Sox faced a tough opponent in Minnesota pitcher Huascar Ynoa, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Fenway Park by a final score of 4-3. Ynoa went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Boston reliever Tim McKnight picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jorge Fajardo was saddled with the loss.
Jim Williamson was the walk-off hero for Boston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Red Sox left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Williamson said in his postgame press conference.
Boston is now 16-20, while Minnesota is 17-18.
