The Houston Astros besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Philadelphia third baseman Maikel Franco by beating the Phillies, 7-5, at Citizens Bank Park. Franco went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Bob Ramsey earned the save for Houston, his 5th. Houston is now 14-21, Philadelphia 20-16.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Steve McGuire? The Houston third baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Astros on top, 7-5. For the game, McGuire had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
