The Texas Rangers picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, knocking off the New York Yankees, 6-3. Starting pitcher Lazaro Leyva was a big reason why. Leyva got the win, improving to 4-2. He gave up 4 hits and walked 0 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Texas is now 17-18, while New York is 18-18.
Shigenobu Ito came through with a big-time hit for Texas. The catcher smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 6-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Texas manager Eric Wedge.
