Milwaukee Loses, 4-3, to Houston in 10
|
The Houston Astros faced a tenacious opponent in Milwaukee pitcher Tim Hankins, but still scratched out a win at Miller Park by a final score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Hankins went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Eric Guy was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Ed Gaines. Jesús Mejía earned the save for Houston, his 6th of the year.
Starlin Castro provided a timely hit. The Houston pinch hitter delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Astros on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Astros manager Manny Acta.
Houston goes to 15-20, Milwaukee to 23-14.
