The Aberdeen Ironbirds beat the Vermont Lake Monsters, 3-0, at Centennial Field. Starting pitcher Dominic McConnell was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. McConnell yielded no runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-0. Etelson Peltier notched his 3rd save of the season.

Aberdeen used the hitting of Mike Griffin to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Ironbirds on top, 2-0. For the game, Griffin had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Aberdeen manager Lamarr Rogers.

By defeating Vermont, the first-place Ironbirds improved to 12-6.
