The Mahoning Valley Scrappers downed the Connecticut Tigers, 3-1, at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. Jim Sizemore led the way, going 2-for-3 for Mahoning Valley. The save was credited to Ed Makarezos, his 3rd. The Scrappers raised their record to 10-18.

Mahoning Valley grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Sizemore hit a 2-run double off José Cervantes. His 6th double of the season put the Scrappers out in front, 3-1.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Mahoning Valley manager Esteban Gonzalez. "It's usually not just one thing."
