West Virginia Dismisses Aberdeen, 6-5
Spirited fans greeted the Aberdeen Ironbirds for their clash with the West Virginia Black Bears.

The West Virginia Black Bears spoiled a good performance by Aberdeen center fielder Luis Pérez, bumping off Aberdeen, 6-5, at Ripken Stadium. Pérez slugged 2 home runs. Caden Heath earned the win, while 22-year old shortstop Jimmy Koch took the loss for Aberdeen.

It could have been a different outcome for West Virginia, had it not been for Eric Wilkerson, the 21-year old right fielder . Wilkerson contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put West Virginia up, 6-3.

"They had a good approach," Aberdeen skipper Lamarr Rogers said of the opposition. "Hats off to them."

The Black Bears go to 9-24 with the win.
