Good production from left fielder Hervé Masson helped the Kansas City Royals topple the Cleveland Guardians, 3-2. Masson was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Royals. Kansas City is now 18-20, Cleveland 17-22.
Cliff Jones came through for Kansas City when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a two-strike splitter to center field, staking his team to a 3-2 lead.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Kansas City manager Jim Tracy.
