Doubledays Get Thrilling 6-5 Win
The Auburn Doubledays beat the State College Spikes, 6-5, in 10 innings at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Auburn center fielder Gilberto Cardenas had an outstanding performance. He was 2-2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. Rhett Walker, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 0.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. The Doubledays bumped their record to 18-18 with this win.

Cardenas had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-1 slider from Rob Crawford, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Doubledays a 6-5 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Cardenas.

"This game showed the grit and grind of our guys," said Cardenas.
