Staten Island got a valiant performance from pitcher Tony Trujillo, but it wasn't enough to beat the Connecticut Tigers. Connecticut won the game, 1-0. Trujillo threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Connecticut pitcher Marlon Gibbs got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Mario Aguilar got the loss. The winning streak has now reached 8 games for the Tigers.
Connecticut got a clutch hit from Steve Owens. The right fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.
"We were determined to pick up this win," said Owens.
