Scrappers Prevail, 6-4, Over Aberdeen
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers topped the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 6-4, in New York-Penn League action at Ripken Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Mahoning Valley pitcher and El Paso, Texas, native Quincy Hickman. Juan Rodríguez got credit for the save for Mahoning Valley. It was his 4th of the year. The defeat makes Aberdeen 29-26.

Mahoning Valley used a well-timed hit by Héctor Miranda to capture the win. The first baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Scrappers ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We have a lot of confidence in Quincy," said Mahoning Valley manager Esteban Gonzalez.
