Auburn Dismisses Lowell, 10-3
The Auburn Doubledays beat the Lowell Spinners, 10-3. Auburn third baseman and Greenville, South Carolina, native Jerry Smith led the way. Beau Brooks earned the win, while 21-year old right-handed pitcher Ben Ballard took the loss for Lowell. The third-place Doubledays now sit at 28-28.

Auburn used a well-timed hit by Ted Wood to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Doubledays ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Auburn manager Brandon Crawford.
