Black Bears Stymie Aberdeen, Take 5-1 Win
The West Virginia Black Bears picked up a win at Russell Diethrick Park, downing the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 5-1. On the mound for West Virginia was right-hander Reggie McClain, who played a pivotal role in the win. Xavier Thompson notched his 2nd save in 2 chances. The Ironbirds, now 34-38, have lost 4 straight.

Jimmy Songer had a big run-scoring triple for the Black Bears in the bottom of the sixth inning. With West Virginia leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Jon Ramos and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Black Bears ahead, 2-0.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Songer.
