Hawks Snatch Late-Game, 8-7 Win
The Boise Hawks withstood a fine game by Vancouver designated hitter Bob Benton at Nat Bailey Stadium, to upend the Canadians, 8-7. Benton slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Álex Espinal got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4 innings. Orlando Rodríguez notched his 2nd save of the season.

Kevin DeRenzo came through with a big-time hit for Boise. The center fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 8-7. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," DeRenzo told a Boise Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

The loss has the Canadians at 6-8.
