The Colorado Rockies beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 8-4. Colorado pitcher and Oxon Hill-Glassmanor, Maryland, native Bernardo García led the way. García, the winner, moves to 4-2. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Colorado is now 20-21, while Philadelphia is 22-19.

Colorado used a well-timed hit by Ed Mann to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Rockies ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Colorado skipper Mark Minicozzi.
