Canadians Edge Hawks, 6-5
The Vancouver Canadians knocked off the Boise Hawks, 6-5, in Northwest League action at Memorial Stadium. Vancouver pitcher and North Las Vegas, Nevada, native Jerry French had an outstanding performance. The win hiked the Vancouver record to 19-17.

Vancouver won the game in part because of Doug Baldwin. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Canadians ahead, 6-3. For the game, Baldwin had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Vancouver manager Jason Hagerty.
