The Eugene Emeralds topped the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, 7-6, at PK Park. Eugene center fielder Mario Guerra was a spark plug for the offense. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Eugene reliever Rodrigo Vargas was the winner. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Ken Armenio. The second-place Emeralds sport a record of 19-16.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Guerra hit a curveball from Ken Armenio for a run-scoring single. The Emeralds, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"We found a way to get it done," Guerra said.
