Twins Lose By a Run at Cleveland
Cleveland registered a win at Progressive Field by beating the Minnesota Twins, 2-1. Pitcher Sandor Visser was one reason why the Guardians triumphed. The winner was Visser. He threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Randy Lewis. Earning his 4th save for Cleveland was Luis Aguiler.

Mike Papi had a big solo home run for the Guardians in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cleveland leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Randy Lewis and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Guardians on top, 2-0.

"Bottom line," said Minnesota skipper Robin Ventura, "we didn't play well enough to win."

By defeating Minnesota, the last-place Guardians improved to 19-23.
