The Milwaukee Brewers beat the New York Yankees, 7-4, at Miller Park. The win was due in part to shortstop Kevin Thompson, who went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Earning his 15th save for Milwaukee was Ed Gaines. Milwaukee is now 27-12, 5½ games up in the National League Central Division.
Thompson had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-1 changeup from Darwin Ramos, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Brewers a 5-4 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Thompson.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Milwaukee manager Doug Dascenzo.
