Despite a great performance by Arizona third baseman Brett Lawrie, the New York Mets defeated the Diamondbacks by the score of 9-7 in 12 innings at Chase Field. Lawrie was 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Pat Gross, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. The last-place Mets lifted their record to 17-23.

New York used a timely hit from Mike Wilson to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Mets ahead, 9-7. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Wilson.
