The Chicago White Sox picked up a win at Rate Field, dropping the Kansas City Royals, 4-3. Helmis Rodriguez, who signed a 2-year contract worth $18,600,000 on 02/10/2026, was the difference-maker. Picking up the save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Peters. With the win, Chicago upped its record to 21-20.
The Royals had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the White Sox going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old shortstop Dan Downing came to the plate. Downing hit a 2-run double on a 1-2 fastball from Kansas City hurler Scott Blewett. It was Downing's 8th double of the year.
After the game, Chicago manager Morgan Ensberg applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
