The performance of Mike Wright proved critical in helping Danville beat Kingsport, 5-3. The Firebirds second baseman was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Firebirds improved their record to 30-28 with the win over Kingsport.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Danville trailing 3-2, Wright jumped on a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Perkins and hit a 3-run home run to left-center. With one swing, the Firebirds had a walk-off win.

"This place was electric at the end," Wright said.
