Elizabethton Upended by Princeton, 6-3
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Elizabethton Twins and Princeton Rays get after it.
Behind the hitting of José Franco, the Princeton Rays stopped the Elizabethton Twins, 6-3. Franco went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Rays. The Rays, at 37-22, have now won 5 straight.
Princeton designated hitter Ben Young contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a cutter to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 72nd hit of the season and put the Rays ahead, 4-0.
"This was a nice win for us," said Young. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
