Burlington got a decent performance from pitcher Artie Barton, but it wasn't enough to beat the Greeneville Astros. Greeneville won the Burlington Athletic Stadium contest, 3-2. Barton threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The winning pitcher was 19-year old right-handed pitcher Leon Miller. He tossed 116 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. Picking up the save was Don MacIntosh, his 2nd.
Duane Baldwin had a direct impact on the outcome. Baldwin contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the seventh inning to put Greeneville up, 3-2.
"We take it day by day here," said Baldwin, "and today was a good one for us."
The victory puts Greeneville at 22-37.
