Villanueva Silences Greeneville Bats
|
Kingsport picked up a win at Pioneer Park, bumping off the Greeneville Astros, 1-0. Pitcher Rubén Villanueva was a major reason the Mets emerged victorious. Steve Perkins collected his 6th save. The West-leading Mets are 40-22.
Villanueva earned the win, going 8 strong innings for Kingsport. The right-hander allowed just 1 hit, while striking out 10. Greeneville hitters had little success against him.
"Rubén pitched like a son-of-a-gun," said Kingsport manager Luis Avilan.
