Washington Nationals starter Ty Buttrey turned in a top-notch performance against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. The result was a win for the Nationals, 7-2. In 6.2 innings, Buttrey surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The triumph puts Washington at 27-17 for the season.
The Nationals got a big at-bat from first baseman Nick Castellanos. For the game, Castellanos was 1-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Washington a 2-1 lead.
"I didn't leave too many pitches out over the plate," said Buttrey.
