Dougherty Blasts Rays, Mets Take Game 3, 14-3
At an age when many of his peers are still toiling in the minor leagues, Nate Dougherty was on the biggest stage of all.

The 20-year-old rookie first baseman was terrific at H.P. Hunnicutt Field with a stirring hitting performance. Dougherty went 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 4 runs and drove in 2 in a fireworks-filled, 14-3 Kingsport Mets win over the Princeton Rays. The win gives the Mets a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Juan Rodríguez chipped in a run-scoring ground out for Kingsport in the top of the first. For the game, the catcher had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI.

"When you don't put the pitches where they're supposed to be, they hit you hard," said Princeton skipper Scooter Tucker.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at H.P. Hunnicutt Field in Princeton.
