The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies, 4-1, at Chase Field. The win was due in part to shortstop Christopher Torres, who slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Danny Hatfield, the winner, improved to 4-3. He held the Rockies to 1 run on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Colorado has now lost 5 consecutive games.

Torres had a key at-bat for Arizona in the bottom of the second. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and gave Arizona an early 2-0 lead.

Afterward, Colorado manager Mark Minicozzi said: "We were guessing wrong on pitches, and that's something we've got to get away from."
