The Boston Red Sox defeated the Atlanta Hammers, 8-3. Doing his part was right fielder Bo Dawson, who went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Boston, at 22-24, occupies third place in the American League East Division.

In the top of the eighth, the Red Sox grabbed the lead when Dawson hit his 6th home run of the season. The solo home run off Bobby Moore made it 4-3, Boston.

"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Atlanta manager Vince Harrison.
