Almirón Hits 2 home runs in Phillies Win
|
Led by Ernesto Almirón, the Philadelphia Phillies downed the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-3. Almirón went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Phillies. Mike Morin picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-2. José Pantoja suffered the loss. Brad Townsend was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Philadelphia took a 4-2 lead on Maikel Franco's 18th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Franco hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Pittsburgh pitcher José Pantoja visibly frustrated.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Philadelphia manager Robby Jenkins.
Philadelphia has an impressive 31-15 record.
