Nationals Run Win Streak to 7
|
The Washington Nationals locked up a win at Nationals Park, knocking off the New York Mets, 6-4. On the mound for Washington was right-hander Joey Gatto. He played a major role in the triumph. Washington has an impressive 33-17 record.
Nick Castellanos had a big 2-run double for the Nationals in the bottom of the third inning. With Washington leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher José Ferrer and swatted a double to right. It was his 19th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Nationals ahead, 4-0.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Gatto.
