The Oakland Athletics beat the Los Angeles Angels, 7-6, at O.co Coliseum. Wyatt Mathisen, in particular, was impressive. He was 3-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ty Blach earned the win. Marc Collins, who finished 5th in the AL in ERA with 3.30 in 2022, took the loss for Los Angeles. Getting the save was Tommy Meyers, his 3rd.

Mathisen contributed in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Oakland get the win.

"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Mathisen. "I think we're going to keep proving that."

With the win, Oakland goes to 21-29, while the Angels fall to 32-16.
