The umbrellas came out during the St. Louis-Cincinnati contest at Great American Ball Park.

St. Louis starter Ed Franklin pitched well against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-1. St. Louis now sits at 23-28, while Cincinnati falls to 26-25.

Blake Swihart had a big 2-run home run for the Cardinals in the top of the third inning. With St. Louis leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from Walt Sharpe, who is tied for 9th in the NL in wins with 5, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Cardinals on top, 3-0.

"Ed's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said St. Louis manager Aaron Thompson.
