The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

The Detroit (VSL) Tigers defeated the Chicago (VSL) Cubs, 3-2, at VSL Cubs Complex. Detroit (VSL) third baseman Kevin Estes had a superb performance. He went 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Leborio Crespo, credited with the win, is now 6-0. He allowed 2 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings.

There was more than one reason the Tigers beat the Cubs, but Estes's big at-bat in the top of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said Detroit (VSL) manager Nate Long.
