The Los Angeles Angels could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Derrek McGriff into a win. Instead, the Miami Marlins prevailed, 4-3. McGriff threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The win puts Miami at 31-19 this season.

Miami took a 4-3 lead on Daryl Hatfield's 15th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Hatfield hit in the top of the eighth, left Los Angeles pitcher McKenzie Mills visibly frustrated.

Miami manager John Patterson was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
