Jorge Martinis did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Detroit (VSL) Tigers from being beaten, 6-4, to the Tampa Bay (VSL) Rays at VSL Rays Complex. Martinis went 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. With the win, the Rays sit at 29-14.

Tampa Bay (VSL) took a 6-4 lead on Jud Rogers's 10th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Rogers hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Detroit (VSL) pitcher Ron Hall visibly frustrated.

Rogers expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
