Houston Shut Out by Ellis
In a seemingly effortless performance, Donnie Ellis of the Seattle Mariners shot down the Houston Astros, 6-0, on 3 hits.

"Donnie was just locating so well and using his pitches," Seattle manager Jeff Banister said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."

Ellis recorded 9 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.

"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Houston manager Manny Acta said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."

In 11 starts this season, Ellis has compiled a 5-5 record and a 3.05 ERA.
