Arizona starter Pancho Escobar pitched well against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Chase Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-5. The win for the Diamondbacks lifted their record to 32-23.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Arizona took the lead on a 2-run single by Johnny McConnell. At the time, the Diamondbacks were trailing 2-1, but McConnell's hit with two outs against Pittsburgh pitcher Luis Gallegos put them in front, 3-2.

McConnell told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
