Washington Topples Seattle, 2-1
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Washington Nationals and Seattle Mariners.
In a low-scoring affair between the Washington Nationals and the Seattle Mariners, pitcher Ty Buttrey was the difference between victory and defeat. The Washington right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Nationals win. Buttrey picked up the win for Washington, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3.
Washington used a clutch at-bat from Christian Walker to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Nationals ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Buttrey said.
With the victory, the Nationals upped their record to 32-24.
