Seattle Pockets 4-1 Win Over Arizona
The Seattle Mariners got a marvelous performance from pitcher José Amaya. The right-hander kept the Arizona offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-1 Seattle victory at Safeco Field. Amaya, now 3-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Eddie Muggleston was credited with the save for Seattle, his 16th of the season.

Seattle right fielder Mike Hahn contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a slider to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 59th hit of the season and put the Mariners ahead, 3-1.

Amaya attributed the win to his team's "tenacity."

Seattle leads the American League West Division by 2½ games.
