Cincinnati got a big-time effort from pitcher Chris Sale, but it wasn't enough to keep the Atlanta Hammers from winning the game, 11-1. Sale threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Atlanta reliever Joe Byrd picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Doug Hall was saddled with the loss. At 27-32, the Hammers are currently 4th in the National League East Division.

Rocky Edwards drove in one run for Atlanta. The 25-year old left-handed pitcher had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Doug Hall. It was his 11th RBI of the season.

"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Edwards said.
