Red Sox Win, 2-1, at Cleveland
|
The Boston Red Sox beat the Cleveland Guardians, 2-1. Boston pitcher and Ponce, Puerto Rico, native Tony Nava led the way. Nava, now 6-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Boston is now 28-31. Cleveland is 26-35.
Daniel Robertson, who finished 5th in the AL in triples with 7 in 2024, had a direct impact on the outcome. Robertson contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the sixth inning to put Boston up, 2-0.
"Tough loss," said Cleveland manager Tristan Bugbie. "The kind that burns a little inside."
