5-2 Win for Washington Over Miami
|
Washington Nationals starter Steve Moss found his groove in his team's 5-2 win over the Miami Marlins. The winning pitcher was Moss, now 4-3. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 7. Dominic Bingham was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 20 of 24 save opportunities.
Nick Castellanos, who finished 2nd in the AL in hits with 194 in 2022, helped out the Washington cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the first baseman was 1-3 with a double.
"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager John Patterson. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."
The Marlins, at 26-35, have lost 4 straight games.
