Blue Jays Edge Past Hammers, 9-8
|
Spirited fans greeted the Atlanta Hammers for their clash with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Atlanta Hammers, 9-8, with third baseman Tynan Cotto playing a big role. Cotto was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Blue Jays in the win. The win went to Juan Pérez in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Dan Hicks took the loss. Henry Hirsch notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
Toronto used the clutch hitting of Ken Frazier to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Blue Jays the lead, 8-7. For the game, Frazier had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"Exciting game to play in," said Cotto. "Getting the win makes it even better."
The Blue Jays improved their record to 28-33 with the win over Atlanta.
