The Colorado Rockies got a magnificent performance from pitcher John Gant, who muffled the Oakland offense en route to a tight, 1-0 Rockies win at O.co Coliseum. Dave Kirkpatrick was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 15 save opportunities. The 4th-place Athletics dropped to 25-37.

The Rockies got a big at-bat from third baseman Juan Moreno. For the game, Moreno was 1-4 with a double. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 16th double of the season gave Colorado a 1-0 lead.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Colorado skipper Mark Minicozzi.
